We are here and I have been able to wirelessly access the internet from our room which is very spacious but very basic. Today we woke up and spent the morning with a new friend Jorge from the bed and breakfast we stayed at in Bogota. He got off of work there at around 9:30am then stayed around and chatted with us…my feeling is that he wanted to practice his english, which was very good by the way and I was glad cause I was able to freely practice and butcher the beautiful spanish language.
We met Lucia, our person here who does everything behind the scenes, and she was nice and was very personable. Later our friend Andres came to pick us up in a cab and drive us the 25 mins to the airport through Bogota where they close a major street/thouroughfare every sunday from 0730-1430 so that people can ride their bikes, walk their dogs, rollerblade or push the strollers..it was quite a sight with thousands of people out riding their bicycles along side our taxi….wish we had pictures of it….sorry..we have some other pictures which we will put up as soon as we get all set up. We were met in Manizales by Catalina and toured all over Manizales on this beautiful day. Situated in the middle of the mountains, there isn’t a flat street around. It is a “small” city of 400,000 people as our interpreter told us and we were able to see the beautiful mountains all around.
The Hotel we are staying at is beautiful, every employee has been so generous and gracious with my sore excuse at claiming the Mexican heritage and speaking very discombobulated spanish. At least I was able to get the cab to take us back to the hotel after dinner tonight…without a hitch…maybe sometime this week we will try the Juan Valdez coffee shop situated in Cable Plaza (pronounced KABLEH Plaza) which sits at one of the highest points of Manizales, seriously you must see this beautiful outdoor coffe shop that looks like a top notch, huge Starbucks or Cariboo Coffee outside in the mountains by a very American mall. Well anyway, I must go to bed for tomorrow we meet our 3 little angels to become our forever family.
Thank you for your prayers and support…remember us and the kids will greatly appreciate any comments you leave…Love you all… Buenos Noches
