When you thought they weren’t listening. Earlier this week we received an update from Compassion International.

A couple of years ago Supermom and I decided to "Sponsor a Child" through Compassion International. We have been sponsoring, and will continue to sponsor a young boy who will be turning 8 next year. Now that we have 3 of our own little munch-kins, we get to share with them the joys of loving one of God’s children in another part of the world. So on Monday, we get our letter from our little boy, a brief sentence that was left unexplained and left us wondering and hurting. "His mother died." And I felt like time stood still and another short sentence came to mind. AND "Jesus Wept!"
Then later that evening in the drive through, free frosty night, SuperMom and Monkey were having a conversation about Jesus when Monkey said "Jesus walk in the clouds?"
S.M.-Yes he walks around up there.
Monkey-We can’t see him?
S.M.-But he’s up there waiting for us.
Monkey-For what?
S.M-For when we come.
Monkey-He going to take us to heaven mami?
S.M- Yes
Monkey- When?
S.M-When Jesus comes back or we die!
Monkey-Remember that boy whose mother died, Jesus take her to heaven?
Oh, they will get it. They can understand so much. It just amazes us. We would ask for your prayers for our Compassion boy and his family as they deal with not having their mother anymore. There are still a lot of questions about why? and how? but still not as important as What can we do to continue to love this boy who is now motherless?
I sponsor two children, and I look forward to the day when I have children myself and can share the experience with them. Thank you for sharing this. I love to hear stories about children as they come to understand and know Jesus.
Here’s a post I wrote recently. You may be interested in it.

Wow! I just watched the video, and then some that were linked to it. Awesome ministry. We asked our children to pick Orphan projects from CHI this Christmas to sponsor. I like the idea of sponsoring a child though…and getting correspondence. What an impact!
And what a tragdy…for the little guy you guys have sponsored…how do you respond to something like that? I will pray that God wraps His arms around him, holding him and loving him forevermore.
My sister passed away last year. We had started the adoption process then and when we brought the children home 9 months later we tried to explain who Tia Shanda is or was, and I am not sure “they get it” yet. I say to them she is partying with Jesus! We let our balloons go “sending them to her”–and maybe that’s misleading, but somehow it’s comforting to me…They still pray for her when they say their prayers…I think it is precious…I’ve been told that if I ever want her to know something just to tell Jesus to tell her…and that’s what I tell my kids…and hers…maybe that would help the little guy, too…it’s helped me…
Good posts…you guys always have such powerful posts…
