the crock pot life

// June 14th, 2008 // No Comments » // Blogging, Budgeting, Credit Cards, Debt, Life, Money, Parenting

I was recently chatting with a friend of mine and we were talking about the microwave culture we live in.  We don’t slow cook anymore.  Everything is fast.  Fast fast fast…..

We get mad when we have to wait in line at McD’s or Arby’s or BK for more than 2 mins….2 MINS…. Popcorn is now cooked in about 3 mins…..and heck your cell phone can be a blessing and a curse….the world is literally getting smaller….and everything is moving faster.

Japanese cartoons produced in Japan are hit shows here in the states at the SAME TIME. Our ability to do things now and quickly have really helped us to forget about the crock-pot.

Don’t get me wrong, I love the life and time that I live in, where else could you become famous writing your thoughts and publishing them in a single concise, easily searchable database for the WORLD to find…..

The main reason my friend and I were discussing our microwave culture came from the perspective of the teens we work with or the kids we raise. When we see something we want, we want it NOW. We have lost the art of sacrifice to win in the long haul. A great example that I will leave you with is this, think about it….. "90 Days ‘Same’ as CASH"

Blurb It…

// December 24th, 2007 // No Comments » // Blogging

    Since joining the blogosphere, I often wondered about the ability to actually be a published author.  A place where I could pull out a real live book to hold and read through the things that I have written. One filled with memories or memoirs of the things I love.  Well, SuperMom and I have been working on such a project for about 10 months now.  We have finally completed our oldest sons "lifebook" but more like a journey of life book.

   I have always enjoyed writing and I have been told that I should consider publishing some of my writing.  So i decided to self publish a book through Blurb(c).  I was able to upload my entire blog archive into a book which even added pictures I had posted in posts, and comments. With the freeware, we were able to have a lot of control over the design and look of the book.  Then when Super Mom finished adding all the appropriate pictures we ordered our first book.

    When we got it a couple weeks ago we were very happy and excited to present it to Mowgli soon, then we will finish the other 2 for Manny and Monkey.  We hope that the book in print will serve as a reminder of where they’ve come from and where God is leading them.

What is it?

// October 29th, 2007 // No Comments » // Blogging, Music, Updates

Hear_this   I had a list toward the bottom of the sidebar that gave you a rundown of some of the music that I am listening to right now.  But I thought about you and how that may not be beneficial to those that don’t know where to look for the music on the web, so I made it easy.  Just click any of the songs in the little player on the top of the sidebar and you can hear some of my most listened to music on my iPod.  I love offering my readers some good easy listening music, that I love.  I hope you enjoy.

New Features

// October 27th, 2007 // 2 Comments » // Updates

New_improved
We have added a few features to our website that should make it more enjoyable for you to surf around and get a taste of our blog world and part of our lives.  Quickly highlight the changes you will see on our site.

#1- Better Archive Searching!—(by far my most favorite)  The new way you can look through our Archives by category or by month.  The little drop down menu box on the left side under the Google button is where you can find these.

#2 Google Search our site…as of right now it is not fully operational since Google has not indexed our site yet.  This will hopefully be working in the near future.  (I’m waiting on google to do it’s job)

#3 Better RSS—-Changing over from Feedblitz to Feedburner You will see 3 ways to subscribe on our site either by following the links on the left where it says we have "(x) readers" you can subscribe via email or by plugging it into your RSS feed reader from the menu bar.  (if you have a typepad blog and you want to know how to get a drop down menu bar like this one see this link to Typepadhacks.org  and the 3rd way to subscribe is by clicking on the recent posts that are scrolling in the top of the sidebar.

#4 Share Posts via email or on Facebook—You can finally share or email me or email the post that you find interesting to a friend by following the links at the bottom of each post.  I have made it easy to share favorite posts on facebook by following the link at the bottom of your post.

Enjoy and let us know what you think.

Interestingness (new feature)

// June 26th, 2007 // No Comments » // Blogging, Updates

For those that read this blog only on your email please be sure to check out the website itself by following the links in your email. On the website I have added a list of most interesting articles/videos/news stories that I find in my feed reader (like email for all the blogs I keep up with) and I will update them for you to check out the most interesting ones.  Some of them you may find me blogging about and others you may just find in the sidebar, either way you feel free to leave comments for us.
